About Me

Peter Ryan is a Toronto-born cellist whose work bridges performance, education, and community engagement. He is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati, where he also earned his Master’s degree, following a Bachelor of Music from New York University. His principal teachers include Marion Feldman and Alan Rafferty, and he has performed in masterclasses for Hans Jensen, Richard Aaron, and Bonnie Hampton.

As a performer, Peter is a section cellist with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra and an active chamber musician. He also helps shape the next generation of artists as part of the leadership team at the Ascent International Chamber Music Festival, which brings together 75 students from around the world each summer for intensive study and collaboration.

Equally committed to the social power of music, Peter serves as Operations Manager and Centre Director with Sistema Toronto, where he works with children from diverse communities to foster social and emotional growth through music-making.

Outside of music, Peter enjoys playing hockey, birdwatching, and attending concerts by NCT.
